Personal:

Married for 44 years to a wonderful and supportive wife. She's run 2 marathons herself in our earlier years so that helps.  4 boys, all married, and 10 grandchildren.  2 sons are runners. I celebrated 39 years of running madness, insanity, or at least OCD, on August 23rd, 2021.

Snow Canyon 1/2 Marathon. 1:52:44. 8:36 A.P. 5th of 24 in M60-64 Division.  200/443 Men's Race.  399/1313 Total field. 

What's hapenng with men's road racing in the 21st century?  According to the race results there were a total of 1313 finishers this year.  Only 443 of those were male runners. That's just 34%.  I know that women have been outnumbering the men for quite a while in the 1/2 marathon, and likely other distances, but is this ratio pretty typical for all 1/2 marathons right now?  Seems a bit more out of balance than ever.  Come on guys!

Women's racing is generally more exciting to watch however.  Many major marathons have closer and exciting finishes with the women's race than with the men.  It was great to see Shalane Fanagan put away the field in the final 5K yesterday at the NYC Marathon!
