I did a harder workout on the track today. It was exhausting, but I know it will pay off.
I warmed up for mile and a half then then a 400, 800, and 1200 at 5k goal pace. I was planning on doing a 1600 after the 1200, but I was dead so I told myself if i hit the 1200 right then i would do this workout again in a few weeks with the 1600 added to it.
So my goal is 18:00 for a 3 mile. That ends up being 90s per 400. The 400 was easy to recover from with a 3 minute rest. I ran it in 87s. Rested 3 mins. The 800 was in 2:56. Rested 3 mins. The. I ran the 1200 in 4:26. They were all just a bit faster than 6:00 minute pace.
I ended by walking a lap, doing 20 push-ups and 30 crunches then cooling down with 3 laps on the track it was tough and I didn’t finish the extra mile, but I’m happy that I’m getting some fast-ER running in.
