Did a 1.34 mile warmup. Then we did a time trial of the Gully Long Run. I ran 6th at 48:19. We ran as a pack until the bridge, then we separated I was sore from Saturday and when I got to the road I mentally started to drop my pace Jake K dropped back a bit to help me out. In other words dropped to push my pace. I was able to run half the hill then walked the rest and made the top at 28:10. I started to pick up my pace since my shins stopped hurting. About the park Davis caught me and was running really hard. I was able to stay within 150m of him to the finish. So I had a strong start and finish. I just need to have more mental toughness the second third of the race.

I think the way to approach this run is to break it up into parts. First part, to the bridge - stay with the pack. Try to relax and save energy, but take advantage of the downhills. Then you have an uphill section to the road, so you have to stay focused there, but once you hit the road it gets a little easier (for a while). The hill is a killer, but the key is to just keep moving. You know once you get to the top, its all downhill, and you can sort of recover while still running on the downhill section.

You did good today. Like you said, its about nailing that middle section. A lot of it is mental. You know you can do it. So next time, I think the road should be your focus. Run that section well, and your time will drop a lot.

Thanks for the great advice! It's encouraging to be coached by knowledgable runners. (Rob Murphy, Jake K) Thanks a ton!
