Personal: I was a single mom. Two times over. We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions. Then, I met a man I didn't deserve. And he loves me so much. And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer. Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now. But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway. This is my failure blog now. Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Day of atonement for weekend sins, although I was not too terribly bad this weekend. One hour on the elliptical, 3 miles on the treadmill, mile 1 6mph, mile 2 6.5 mph, mile 3 6.6mph with 7 mph for the last quarter mile. No pain, felt good. Topped it off with 4 miles on the virtual bike. Ankle is doing fantastic but I'm going to keep up the crosstraining and ease back into the running as slowly as I can stand it. Staycation is over and I am back to work today. |

| | 30 minutes on the recumbent bicyle, then 30 minutes on the treadmill. Ankle still feels good. I think I will try some overground running later this week. |

| | It's going to be a looong day. I have to drive an hour and a half to Hutchinson for class, then drive straight from there to Wichita to work, and won't be off until midnight. I joined the 5 am crowd this morning for 25 minutes on the elliptical and 35 minutes on the treadmill. I ran mostly at 6.6mph, then scooted it up to 7mph for a minute, then finished off with a fun minute at 8mph, then figured I better stop and call it good. Ankle still feels good, but I am still nervous about it flaring up again. |

I'm sick. My gut hurts so bad. Can't eat. My daughter is sick too. She was up all night with breathing problems and vomited yesterday. No workout today.

| | After being violently ill yesterday I was surprised to feel pretty good this morning after a good night's sleep. Must have just been a 24 hour bug. I ran 6 miles overground today, nice and slow, in 1 mile loops by my house. 3 loops in one direction and reversed for the other 3 loops to keep the wear and tear even on my ankles. It felt really good. Between loops I would run through the house and do a head count and check the kids, which they found quite entertaining! "Mom! Why are you RUNNING in the HOUSE?!" I would come through the back door, dash down the hallway, through the kitchen and living room to ensure all was well, and back down the hallway and out the door. Vanessa is better. I had to give her one breathing treatment last night but she has no troubles this morning and is back to her active and mischievous self. It is a sad day today--my husband David's late wife's grandmother died yesterday. I did not know her well but Grandma Kathy is devastated and David is sad too. The kids did not know her incredibly well either but I suspect the older boys in particular will have some troubles since they have already experienced a lot of loss in their lives(their biological mother about 6 years ago). So, keep us in your prayers. |

| | Same routine as yesterday, reversing directions on loops and dashing through the house between loops to check on the kids. It was downright frigid today but no snow or ice so I can't complain. It was a nice slow run and I had to field a few phone calls as part of the funeral planning frenzy-- I can talk on a cell phone and run at the same time! I'm sure that looks ridiculous if anyone saw it... |
