Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

This went pretty well I think.  I measured the course a little long per Garmin, which is neither here nor there.  Either way, this is a 27 second improvement from 3 weeks ago on  a not-so-flat course, so the improvement continues slowly but surely.  splits 6:09(downish), 6:31(uppish), 6:25, 6:24, last .05 in 16 seconds(5:38 pace).  jogged 1.5 to warm up and 2.5 to cool down.  This needs to be my hmp in about 6 weeks, which judging from two years ago at this very same race, it did become my hmp 6 weeks later so I can dream.  I am feeling kinda emotional and greatful today, 10 weeks ago I was laying in a ditch with a broken leg and lucky to be alive.  Seems almost like it never happened.  God has been good to me.

Great job today, April! You should be grateful but also proud of yourself, because it's your own guts and strength that got you out of that ditch and back killing it at races. I'd say that comeback is already happening...

God is good! I'm sure your dream will soon become a reality! Nicely done!

See, you just needed to be hit by a car to get going again. I think I'll go play in traffic now.

Great race - I would not be surprised to see you at that pace in a half very soon.

You're really improving nicely. Keep it going.

4 miles is a great distance for racing. I wish that distance existed here!

sweet race, april. it's so great that you are out hammering the roads when just 10 weeks ago you were in a completely different (and scary) place. i love your determination and passion for this sport. you are definitely on the comeback trail and looking strong. keep it up.
