Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

it is not a bad time April, it is the time that one might expect when training in the marathon/half-marathon range! This is really more of a speed race than a stamina race, so in order to really run a good time you need to spend more time training for it ... not a big deal. And, 2nd place is still pretty darn good! Think about it as a great tempo workout! Great job!

Maybe you had a cruddy race, but definitely the best race report ever.

Running 16 the day before miiiiight have factored. And ditto to Bonnie, you got in a workout and placed well.

My comment is 100x longer than your RR.

Ha ha! Pretty awesome for a race that you jumped into at the last minute the day after a long run! Even if it didn't feel great, it still was some good conditioning for that marathon.

Thanks for the comment. :) sometimes I am just impatient waiting for the fitness to come back!

So I checked some stats from 2011 when I was coming back from a stress fracture, and I ran a 26:50 four miler, even slower than this one, but 6 weeks later dropped my first sub 1:30 half, so if the improvement curve stays true to history I am not so far away.
