Met the running club on the LPT and ran 14 miles alone.  It was a little cool out this morning but was still able to run in shorts and tshirt.  Felt really good for the first 11 miles.  A lot of energy and the pace felt smooth and easy.  Of course I forgot to take my fuel belt again and I was low on fuel for the last 3 miles.  I'm surprised that I ran out of gas so early in the run.

So ... how much do you think running out of gas has to do with Ogden. Shouldn't our glycogen reserves have built back up again. I just can't figure out why my body hasn't jumped back yet, especially since I didn't full out race Ogden. I am so confused. Enlighten me!! :)

So, Tuesday? Noon?

You may not have full out raced it but it was pretty close. Especially since it was right after Boston. I believe in the recovery rule of thumb that says that you are not fully recovered for 1 day for every mile raced. Just be patient (I know that is something you struggle with).

Giving more thought to the run, it probably wasn't a fuel issue. I picked up the pace during the last mile and ran it in 7:00 and it felt alright.

Tuesday works for me.

So what you are saying is that my body won't fully adjust until the day before UVM!!! STINK!!!

I wanted to try some speedwork tomorrow but am afraid that I will be disappointed in my times since I haven't done any real speed since three weeks before Boston. Yet I know I need it ... but I don't want to get discouraged ... sigh ... advice???

(I feel so much slower than I felt 2 months ago. I am so much slower than I was 2 months ago. Stink.)

You don't really need the speed work. When you run multiple marathons in a short amount of time you need to focus on recovery while maintaining a decent amount of mileage (which you have done). If you feel you can complete the speed work without causing injury then go for it. Don't worry if the pace is not where you want it to be. Marathons do a good job of temporarily sapping the speed out of your legs.

Nice run Andy. Running on lower fuel every now and then, I think is a good thing. Just don't make a habit of it.

NICE run Andy. I learn so much from your blog. That's what I was trying to tell Teena. You said it so well. THANKS!
