Got my new shoes last night and wanted to break them in with a tempo run.  Brooks updgraded to the Adrenaline 9 which usually means the exact same shoe with a higher price tag.  They were more expensive but I'm not sure if it was because of the new model or if Striders is just more expensive than DeBoers.

Warmed up with 3 easy miles then started a 4 mile tempo run.  Felt really good through out the entire tempo run.  Splits were 6:27, 6:32, 6:40, 6:30.  The slow mile was the overpass and ugly stretch that always slows me down.  It is encouraging how good I felt during the run.  I was really questioning if I could break 20 minutes in a 5k right now (6:27/mile) since I have not done any hard running for a few months.

Hope you like the new shoes. I've noticed prices keep on creeping up, too.

In my limitied experience, DeBoer's is always less expensive than Striders when you account for the cash discount Dennis gives. But, he has much less overhead it seems.

DeBoer's stopped carrying the shoe I like, because Dennis said it was too expensive. I am sad because I always like to shop locally. Maybe I can talk him into carrying it again.

Great speed Andy I knew you always had it in you... it is time to let it out!

I've never been to DeBoers but I've bought most of my shoes as Striders. I usually have to get the old models on clearance because the new models are just too dang expensive. I've compared their prices with Sports Authority and Wasatch Running Center and they're all about the same. I might have to make a trip to DeBoers and take a look.

Well, I hope that run answered the question for you.

Andy, those are some fast "easy mile". Good for you. New shoes always seem give a little spring to your step.
