Insane race today.  It was pretty hot outside but I felt like I prepared well by staying hydrated.  I was really nervous for this race so I actually planned out splits and even what I needed to run each 100 meters in to meet my goal (5:49).  I ditched the looking-at-my-watch-every-lap plan and ended up getting a better time anyway. I beat some girls who have been beating me all year so that upped my esteem!  I guess I just really wanted it today.  Afterwards I got a bad headache and puked a couple times (heat exhaustion?) and I am nervous for my race tomorrow.

GREAT JOB TODAY ALLY! Seriously, you had that PR coming! Time to take off tons of time off in the 3200m and go crazy in the 800m! I heart you!

Beautiful run yesterday. Reminded me of early in the xc season. Get hydrated well today as it is going to be a real burner. I told you you can run with them!

Congratulations on the effort and the PR. 5:45 is a very good level. However, I believe your potential is much higher, especially in longer races. To reach it would require some training discipline, though. Like most high schoolers, you will benefit very much from a solid aerobic base, something that is very typical of a high school runner to neglect. I would recommend for the start to set up a rule for yourself that the day does not end, you do not go to sleep in other words until you've run at least 5 miles for the day. After a couple of weeks, make it 6, then 7, 8, 9, etc. If you can do this for a year, it is very likely that 5:45 will become your 5 K pace, and your mile time will be under 5:20.
