I am 42, and am only getting better with age and wisdom.

Running is about third or fourth on my priority list, but that's pretty high.  I'm a busy guy.  My family comes first.  I've got a few great runners in the bunch - watch out for them!

Starting into training for Boston!  Going to try a modification of the "Hanson" program described in January 2011 Runners World.  Monday will be tempo runs at Marathon Pace, Thursday will be my long day, and Saturday will be Speed/Strength.  Whenever possible, I will also attend a session of Ozone cross training.

Treadmill.  Did 4 miles at 6:50 pace then cruised for another 1.5.

Did 6 half mile intervals at 3:00 or less - all on treadmill (tracks covered in snow and ice) - with jogging before, in between, and after.  Felt strong!

Set out to do 7 "Yasso" 800s at 3:00 each, since I did 6 last week. I felt so solid completing number 6 that I decided to attempt number 7 in 2:30.  Put the treadmill on its max speed of 12 mph. Felt solid completing the 800 - time read 2:25 - so I kept going - decided to see if I could run a full mile at that pace.  Finished the mile in 4:50!  I don't know if the treadmill was messed up or not, but assuming it was right that was the fastest mile I've ever run on flat ground. When I ran a 4:52 in high school, I felt weird in the gut on lap 3, was lactic for at least the final 200 meters, and collapsed at the finish.  Today I was none of that.  It was beautiful.  It was "running with joy"!

Either the treadmill was crazy or the cross training and modified Hanson system are taking me much closer to my potential!

Did 12 miles on treadmill, with each mile a little faster than the previous, eventually building up to and through marathon pace.  Felt quite solid.  Did one round of Ozone cross training ("endurance") before had to run to drive carpool.

so is ozone an actual place or is it a fitness brand/program like p90x? either way, it sounds like you are getting a great workout in. nice running, too.

Ozone Fitness is an actual place - in Draper. They run workouts with some similarities to p90x. The trainers are great. You can see more at www.ozonefit.com.

Got ambitious with my long run.Just anxious to test my fitness. So, I warmed up for three miles and then ratched to marathon pace. Crossed 13.1 at 1:32:20, then ran the rest of mile 14 at marathon pace. Felt very solid! Finished with an ab workout.

Got ambitious with my long run again.  Warmed up for a couple miles and then started ratcheting speed to marathon pace and then faster. Ran last 5 miles in 6:30 pace! Finished 13.1 in 1:29:45.

Rolling hills, gorgeous course along coast.  Pelicans overhead.  Definitely not a fast course. Don't know why I had such a hard time with it, though - really slow after mile 10.
