I ran the Pocatello Marathon course this morning.  I was real tired from the late nights and not enough sleep and vacation syndrome.  But I managed to get almost 7 hours last night.  It was an uneventful run, and for the fourth week in a row I ran the course by myself.  My hands were actually freezing for the first 10 miles so I was kind of glad to feel some heat.  The temperature was 40 something when I started and I was wearing a singlet and shorts.

I got up at 5am and started running at 6am.  I felt real steady throught the whole run and I really didn't want to push anything until the last mile up the hill just to get a good feel to know what it will be like in the actual race.   I ran 22 miles at an overall 6:38 pace in 2:26.  I pushed the last mile up the hill with the mile split being 6:11.  Afterwards I mowed the lawn and now I'm headed off to work at a car wash to help send our Church kids to camp.

I can't believe you are still getting weather that cold. I thought it was chilly with the 66 at the start of my run today. However, the 95 yesterday I would take your 40...

Kory, I can't believe the pace that you ran and you brush it off as a run where you didn't really feel your best. Awesome great run. It sure sounds like you are ready for the Pocatello Marathon. Enjoy the cold refreshing runs. Paul

Adam RW - I can't believe it either. My hands were so cold I couldn't feel them, which was starting to worry me. This is the 4th week in a row I've ran the course over 21 miles and the first time where my hands felt frozen.

Paul - I'm hoping I can hold this fitness for the Marathon and do well. Next week I think I will only run 18 miles since the marathon is getting close (August 30th), or maybe run another 21 and cut back the week after that. I really don't know how to train these last 4 weeks, because my schedule has been thrown off for this race.

I really hope I can run the course in the 2:40ish range.

Kory, nice run...I just purchased my first pair of Saucony Tangents...how do you like them?

From wheakory on Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:52:05

rockness18 - The Saucony Tangent 3's are good. I use them for a trainer rather than a racing show. To me they have really good support and hold up well. The comfort is excellent. I think you will really like them. They do seem like a really fast shoe with a lot of bounce to your stride.
