I was woke up about 12:30 with our java server failing so I had to restart the server so my sleep was interrupted. This mad me really tired this morning. I really didn't get back to sleep after this, because I kept thinking while trying to get back to sleep where I'm I going to run for my long run in the morning.

Not this morning I did my long run for 21.5 miles at an overall 6:47 pace in 2:27. First 10 miles in the wind and that wasn't fun. I was really sluggish for the first 5 miles not sure why, but then the legs finally woke up. I took my fuel belt and drank about 12oz of water and took two power-gels. I wanted to simulate my drinking and fuel.

I really didn't feel fresh on this run and I really didn't push anything so I hope this is not a bad sign for SLC.   I wanted to do some MP miles in this run but I ended up really not doing any so I'm a little concerned in that area heading into the Marathon.  After mile 11 I did consecutive miles with the following splits ( 6:36, 6:32, 6:28, 6:18, 6:23, 6:36, 6:33, 6:33).  The first 10 miles were a slight uphill, but really flat and the second half was half.  I did 12 of the miles on the last part of the Pocatello marathon course 6 the reverse way and 6  back on the course.

If I feel like it tomorrow I might do some MP miles, but I have a very busy day.

Awesome run! Especially coming off a bad night sleep. 6:47 is an awesome training pace...I think you are ready for SLC with a run like this.

Hope the rest of the day goes ok for you...don't fall asleep at work!

Have a great weekend and I hope your daughter's soccer game goes well. Sorry we'll miss you tomorrow.

Where are you guys starting your run from?

Thanks for your comments if I can get around 2:40 in Salt Lake I'll be happy.

Looks like we will be starting around 11am at Community Park (where the races you ran started). We will likely do 2 different 10 mile out and backs (one to the east first, then one to the west around the greenbelt).

Maybe you could join us for the second 10M? Should be back to the park around 12:30.

Jeff - if you see me there for your second loop then I made it there after the soccer game. If I'm not there keep chugging alone.

Thanks for the race information for the tail run race. I'm going to sign-up for it.

Dave S - Will see what happens in Salt Lake. I hope I can have a good run. I don't know exactly what will happen, but I'm going to run by feel.

Kory, wow you guys are in a different league and it is sure fun reading the notes you share. Your rough days for over 21 miles would be my amazing days for a 5K. Hey, I'm reading a great book titled "Younger Next Year". Some day you will want to read this one, like in about 25 years. Best wishes for SLC, you will do great!!
