Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

Today, I paced the twelfth running of my hometown race, the Little Rock Marathon, in light rain and cool temps. This was my fifth finish at Little Rock, my tenth marathon overall, and my first time pacing (any race). There was another first for me during this race, when, at the unsanctioned Mile Marker 24.5 "aid station", I stopped to enjoy a cold brew.

I finished comfortably in 3:09 and change (3:10 Pace Group), sending ahead the two gentlemen (Tony and Gareth) who stuck with me from start to finish.

Thanks to my wife, Diana, for the support and kiss near our old apartment in downtown LR (near Mile Marker 10 and Governor's Mansion), and to my parents and kids, Max and Sophia, for the support and hugs at Mile Marker 16.

Good race! I heard that marathon was called off early for the weather. Did they shut it down after half the runners came through?

Steve- some runners were rerouted, though I'm not finding a good source as to exactly how many folks were not able to finish. Sure more details will be available tomorrow after dust (and snow) settles.
