God willing, I will run until the end. Personal: I run with God. I use my running time to contemplate, to pray and to listen for His call. I'm married to a non-runner, but a supportive one, and we have four children. |

| I opted yesterday to go to the first cross country meet. Although I brought clothes to run, by the time I picked up the kids and got to Kickapoo, the meet was beginning. This was an easy run. The first .4 the kids ran with me (and they ran the whole thing) and then I continued on. It was late and raining. I picked up the pace a little bit during the last mile (I accelerated into a sub 8 minute pace though that was in the last 1/2 mile), just to see how it felt. It was pretty good. It's been a while.

| The temps this weekend have been awesome. In the 70s! This was a beautiful run. It is so much easier to run in cooler temps! |

| I worked out this week, but I did not run. I am feeling some pain in my lower right side and have been reluctant to run before seeing a doctor. I have been frustrated all week in my quest to get an appointment. The doctor's office and I were playing phone tag. I hate doctors for a lot of reasons...I decided that I would just run and keep it easy until I can get in.
Anyway, I've been doing to shred, so today I did that first and then ran. Pretty unexciting. This week I worked a lot of extra time because I have been teaching an ACT prep class right after school and there were a couple of night activities that I had to attend as well. Now the class is over, so I am back to my normal hours.

| I finally have my dr's appointment set up for next Monday. I will wait then to run, providing there's nothing wrong. Instead I have been doing some strength training, including the shred. I'm on level 2 and probably will stay there for a while (till it gets pretty easy). This week I am painting my kids' room (sponge painting a periwinkle kinda color) and then working out afterward. Eli usually flits in while I am doing the video part of my workout and joins me the best he can. This time Caleb and Eli both joined me. Caleb did the whole thing with me. He was a little shaky on the strength parts, but he insisted on using weights (I have those bowflex weights and some other dumbells, so I gave him the bowflex dumbells set to 2.5 lbs). But he stuck with it till the end and was very excited when we were stretching at the end because he does some of those stretches in gym class. It was very cute. Now if I could only get my husband to join in...I've been wearing him down, I think.

| Well. I think I have maybe possibly found the answer to my problems. I have low estrogen levels and poly-cystic ovaries, which leads to a probable diagnosis of something called thin women PCOS (usually women who have PCOS are obese and pre-diabetic. They also tend to have lots of body hair. Not me!). I've probably always had this so it seems miraculous that I was able to conceive two kids with no trouble. I don't know if this is the real diagnosis for that reason, but my dr. did provide a plausible explanation for that. I'm actually crossing my fingers, though, because the other possibility would lead to surgery and possibly a hysterectomy (that my insurance would likely not cover).
So I go on glucophage Monday to try to regulate my hormones. It sounds like it is not going to be particularly pleasant. I am not supposed to eat carbs, which is a problem because I love carbs. The dr. scared me with her description of the possible problems associated with this medication. Carbs will lead to GI issues, which I am prone to anyway.
And then I will be reevaluated in 2 months to see if that helps. If not, I don't know what is the next step. At any rate, I'll be back to running on Monday, but I am going to take it real easy. Real easy. Has anyone been on the South Beach diet? That's what I'm supposed to do. It doesn't sound too bad, but I don't know if I mentioned how much I love carbs. And sugar. I really love sugar. I essentially eat the same thing every day right now anyway (cereal for breakfast, peanut butter and jelly for lunch and some sort of meat with veggies and fruit for dinner), but since cereal and a sandwich are out, I would be okay if I could find 3 things that aren't too carby that I could eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Any suggestions?

| Yay! I finally got out for a run this week! My week went like this: Monday: nauseous, headache Tuesday: a little nauseous Wednesday: HUGE headache. In bed at 6, not really on purpose. Just thought I'd lay down for a minute...slept till the morning. Thursday: Screw this low carb stuff. I ate a breadstick with lunch. I felt fine. I think it took a day to get used to the medicine and then I think the rest of my problems were from not eating enough. I've lost 3 pounds since Sunday, but have been steady since Wed. morning. I don't want to lose any more weight. So I had the kind of run you would expect after not running for a couple weeks. It felt better to be done than it felt to run. I did, though, fall asleep at 7...slept till morning. I'm hoping I have more energy this weekend. Next week I double my dosage, so I don't really know what to expect. Might run Friday. Just depends on time. Definitely will run Saturday.
