We got a tremendous amount of rain in a short time yesterday.  So when I was driving to practice, first my on ramp for the interstate was closed (for construction reasons I think), but I was driving through the country and had to keep turning around because the roads were flooded.  Finally I made it, but I was about 20 minutes late.  I talked to the new coach for a while, and then headed out for a 2.6 mile run.  I'm still in my running clothes, thinking about running again while the kids are at swimming lessons, but it is now humid AND sunny.  We'll see.  I might just stay gross so I can remain motivated to do a least 2 more miles.

Update:  I stayed gross but I was only motivated to make it an even 4 for the day.  It was sunnier than yesterday.  I ran faster than I did this morning, but only because this morning I was running with one of the slower runners.

He's got a lot of good plans for the team, which makes me happy. I tried to sneak in is my philosophy that I can train a slow runner just as well as I can a fast runner, because I worry about cross country being ONLY about the top 7. His response makes me think he'll be okay with mediocre runners, but he probably won't welcome them with open arms. He'll have a pretty good team this year, but there are a lot of kids that want to come out to be healthy and not so much for the competition. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I think that the team is in good hands.

Good use of the post-running grossness. Are you all clean and shiny now?

Laughing at how you used post-run grossness as motivation to run more! That's great! Hopefully the new coach does good with the rest of the pack besides the leaders. I think when it comes to team support, the more the merrier, regardless of ability!

Good job getting 4 miles in. I have never seen a road closed from flooding. What a pain to have to find a new route.
