1:15 pm. (after church and lunch) 2 miles with Tommy. He says he wants to run a 5k with me. I told him we'd talk about signing him up after he could run 2 miles without stopping. today was his 2nd attempt at the distance. We did 2 miles today through the trails by the soccer fields. He stopped for a drink once, Stopped to pee once (and MAN did he have to go!), and stopped for a very short time, after he tripped over a root. Anyhow, he did WAY better than I expected.

Then the sun destroyed me, and I stopped. That's enough for today.

Blister on right "had-no-roast-beef" toe, police cars circling the neighborhood (filling my head with all kinds of "what-if's"), ran through clouds of gnats, hit my head on a low branch hard enough to knock my hat off, stopped to scratch the mosquito bites on my ankles 2x, passed a guy with questionable control of his dogs, you know, just a JOY to be out! Saw my brother walking to work afterwards. I walked/talked with him for a while, then ran the half mile back home. So THAT was a positive. It was good to catch up with him. I'm going to try to get something better out of this evening. It shouldn't be that difficult to do, with the bar being set so low this morning.
6:30 pm. I got 1 warm up lap in with Tommy at the track before the lightning started. Not a good day.

Nice heat lightning before sunrise, and cotton candy clouds after. I'm a little bummed that I'm not doing the The Venice Tri this morning. We sure had fun last year, and I love the feeling of race day. Next year, Team Side Meat will return!
