Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

I have a limited time to work out.  Tim earned this trip for work  and we have planned excursions with his co-workers that usually start early....then we are gone all day....then we have a company dinner at night.  So my working out time has been pushed to the back burner.  I'm trying to look at it as a blessing in disguise, so I'm forced to take it easy.  15 minutes on the elliptical and 15 min running.  Then off to the Amalfi Coast and Sorento (I've decided I want to move there some day).

My days are all messed up, but think this is the day US day.

30 minutes of running.  The treadmill was in kilometers, but I'm thinking it was 3 miles.  Ankle felt slightly better.  Today we went to the island if Sicely.  I ate too many canolis and gelato.

We have a day at sea, so I has all morning to work out.  I did 5 miles on the TM.  There is NO ventilation in the fitness center.  No fans.  And it is incredibley humid.  Holy sweat feast!!!!!!

After the first run, I did 3x

10 push ups

16 plank rows

20 dips

I was swearing so profusely that I had a gigantic puddle under me.  The Europeans were looking at me weird.  Hubby came into the fitness center and I ran 2 more miles with him.  All the TV shows were in Italian.  But I was able to find one with English sub-titles.

I felt good on the run.  Ankle didn't hurt at all.  I had it taped.  I stretched for a few minutes.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

They even had a foam roller.  Wow-that totally made my trip!

Nothing...natta...pigged out on too much food!  We were in Croatia today.  Beyond beautiful!

I had acupuncture done on my ankle last night.  I was too nervous to look at the needles! Verdict is still out on if it helped!

Today is our last day on the boat. So I knew I had to get some sort of workout in!

2.3 miles on the fitness center TM. I couldn't handle the heat/humidity any more. Because it was early, I thought the track on top of the boat would be empty. It was and there was a wonderful breeze! Much better! Venice was extremely beautiful on this quiet morning!

Finished up 5 miles.

Hiked around Venice for 11 hours. Oh my feet hurt!
