No running for me today. I just simply did not feel good when I woke up.

BUT ... lots of running for my kids!!!

The USATF youth track meet was today in Park City. My kids did awesome!!!

Here are their races and results in the order they ran them.

Rylee (15)

1500 meters: 1st place, 6:03.81

800 meters: 1st place, 2:39.28

Payton (13)

3000 meters: 2nd place, 13:03.02

(This was the race the Sasha's son dominated. Sadly, it was Payton's first time running the 3000 meters and only 2nd race ever and it was a bad experience due the father of the third place runner in this race. You can see the details on a comment I posted on Sasha's blog for this same day.)

Sophia (11)

1500 meters: 1st place, 6:08.72

400 meters: 1st place, time unknown (The results that are posted have it wrong. They have her in LAST place with a 1:31:xx which is CRAZY because I have footage of her winning the whole thing with a LARGE margin and the footage only lasts 1:22:xx and I started it a little before the race started and stopped it a few seconds after the race ended. I have sent the footage to the director of the meet and I haven't heard back yet. Sophia was not happy when she saw the results.)

800 meters: 2nd place, 3:08.68 (This was a fantastic race. Sophia was pretty tired after running hard on the 1500 and 400. She was running in third place until the final stretch in which she kicked it into gear HARD! She ended up taking 2nd 1/3rd of a second behind the 1st place girl who ran a 3:08.34)

Livvy (10)

100 meters: 3rd place, but not even listed on the results ... WHAT?

200 meters: 3rd place, 37.56

Oliver (10) -- my crazy fast sprinter

100 meters: 1st place, 14.76

200 meters: 1st place, 31.99

Anyway, I hope they get the results fixed. Once again (like last year) there were a couple of coaches trying to recruit Sophia and Oliver to run for their team. They love that!! :)

They are so speedy!!! Congrats to them. I sure hope they fix the results.

Thanks Andrea!!! It was really fun to watch them run. I was a little nervous how things would go seeing this race is the first of the season for them and their running has been sporadic at best. In fact, we kept reminding them on the way up that the purpose of us going to this track meet was for them to have fun and simply see where they are at.

They definitely shocked me!! Sophia especially. She ran her 1500 meters 28 seconds faster than her PR last year that took place towards the end of the season. Plus, this was her first time racing the 400 or 800. CRAZY GIRL!!! :)

How are you feeling???? :)

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 20:05:50 from 67.2.119.204

Dale~

We keep telling Sophers not to worry about it that we all know how well she did. But, you know how it is, there is something very satisfying of seeing your results in black in white, especially when you take 1st!! (Not that I really know that feeling ... but I can imagine! ;))

From Andrea on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 20:16:36 from 67.177.11.154

So are they planning to do the other track meets coming up?

Wow..26 seconds off last years is a huge improvement! And you've got quite a sprinter on your hands too!

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 20:22:32 from 67.2.119.204

Andrea~

Yep. We will do all of the USATF ones this summer. Also, the three youngest really want a "coach." I am not wanting them to have to be committed to something that is overbearing so we are simply signing them up with the Murray youth track club that starts on May 20th. They meet twice a week and it is very low stress. That way they will compete in some additional meets if they choose. :)

From Andrea on Mon, May 13, 2013 at 20:29:55 from 67.177.11.154

Well one positive is with so many kids running so many events, track meets are a lot less boring!

I like the lower stress track club - sounds more fun with the same benefits at the younger level.

I totally agree -- on both accounts!!! :)

Good times for sure. :)

WOW!

Teena, Hopefully Payton did not hear the screaming father. What kind of sorry sack of ship parent berates a 13 year old running a race? The idiot should have been escorted out of the meet and should be barred from ever attending one again. Do you have video of this loser?

Have you heard back about Sophia's 400m?

From Bonnie on Tue, May 14, 2013 at 16:41:41 from 74.202.188.254

Whoot! That is awesome Teena. I hope you are feeling good (taper sucks, I know).

Thinking good thoughts for you xo

Fly~

Sadly Payton did hear. That is how we found out. We were far enough away that all the screaming from different fans mumbled this yelling father's exact words together. I simply thought he was screaming positive things to his son. I had no idea what was actually happening until after the fact. Payton tried to keep a stiff upper lip when he told me but it was obvious that it hurt him. He has subsequently asked what is wrong with how he runs, etc.

He did say, however, that several people from the sidelines were screaming at the father to shut-up.

I ended up telling one of the officials what had happened. He talked to the father about it but he was quite the punk.

I seriously don't get it! What is wrong with people???

Bonnie~

Thank you thank you!! :) Things are just crazy busy. I need to post my runs. I'll do that right now. :)

31.99 for 200 meters at 10 is more than good.

I hear that Alta High School over in Sandy has some excellent academic programs along with high quality track and cross country coaching.

Sweet! Way to go mom! Seriously fun runing crew.

You don't say! :) :) :)
