16 miles - AP: 7:58

Okay, the plan called for 16 miles with 12 @ marathon pace. I thought I'd get the 12 done early and relax in the end. My thought was to do a semi-warmup mile at 8:34 but make up the 34 seconds sometime before hitting 12. I did that. But after finishing mile 12 I realized that though it was hard and I was tired I was still in complete control. So I figured I might as well see if I could finish the entire run at marathon pace. By the final mile I was exhausted but decided to push myself even harder to bring the pace down under 8 minute miles. Success!!!

On a side note -- 16 miles is much too far to do on the treadmill. I don't know what I was thinking. Saturday afternoon are busy at the gym so I thought that the time would fly by as I people watched. The time did NOT fly by! Oh well ... it's done.

Hope everyone is having a FANTASTIC day!

You aged amazingly determined. Wonderfully done.

whoa! You did that on a tread?? Yikes!! What were you doing the whole time? People watching(and laughing at)?

From Smooth on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 17:41:47 from 174.23.239.148

WOW!!! SSF!!! YOU ROCK!!! :)

You ran the entire 16 miles at mp and still had enough juice to push 1.5 at threshold pace to the finish!!!! SO IMPRESSIVE!!!

You need to lower your mp. It is no longer 8mm. You are definitely getting faster and stronger.

I smell a PR at Boston! You're AWESOME!

HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPIEST VALENTINE'S!

I LOVE YOU! :)

P.S. I miss you on my run today! I can't believe you ran the whole thing on the TM. You are HARDEST of HARD CORE!

Thanks Paul!!! :)

Jeff - I was dying the whole time of boredom, that's what I was doing!!! Just teasing. Although I did get a kick out of how many men bodylifters I saw that looked orangish (must be some weird tanning product). :)

From Teena Marie on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 17:46:02 from 174.52.45.85

SSF- I missed you too!! GREATLY!! I kept thinking about what our topic of conversation would be if you were on the treadmill next to me.

Change my goal MP??? NO STINKIN' WAY!!! When I hit my 13 mile mark I couldn't help but start having doubts about ever running double that many miles at that pace during a marathon. I only let it depress me for a minute though. And, the 1.5 miles of threshold did not all come at the end. Only .5 of them. The other 1 I had to do before hitting my 12 mile mark to get my AP at 8:00 (because I thought I was going to then take it easy). I was pretty dang exhausted at the end today.

From RAD on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 18:05:06 from 67.172.229.125

wow...exhausted would be an understatement! :) Nice work on the run, especially on the TM!! I love people watching at the gym, going to a new gym has given me new 'lookers'. There is a group of women every Sat AM at the gym that run on the TM, but every 3-5 minutes stop wipe their face and grab a drink (probably 20-30 seconds of off time). I just shake my head! No wonder people think road running is hard - they can't just 'jump off' to get a drink! :)

You have had one speedy week little girly!!! Nice job, and stay healthy, that is a must!

That is long for a treadmill, I hope you took some potty and drink breaks along the way to ease the boredom!!!

Have a great day!!!

From Teena Marie on Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 18:20:13 from 174.52.45.85

Rachel -- That is funny! At least they are running! Always a good thing! :)

Kelli -- I took one 1 minute break after mile 9.5 to hurry and take a drink from the water fountain so I could get my gu down. But I drank every 2-3 miles on as I ran because I CAN'T go without fluids like you!!! Oh yeah, and the treadmill would automatically stop at 60 minutes which also forced me to stop until I could hurry and restart it. I was pretty dang bored and just wanted it to be over. :)

SSF ~ How did the women runner project turn out? Did you get 100 responds as you have hoped? Hope you had a relaxing Valentine's Day.

Prez and I went to a "special" fireside. The speaker is a LCSW, gave an excellent talk. So much love and compassion felt amongst the attendees, families and the couple who's in charge. They gave us a whole cheesecake to take home. What am I going to do with all the treats sitting in my fridge and kitchen?

Have a GREAT week! LOVE YOU!

Great run Teena! Those long TM runs are more draining mentally then physically. I hate them but you got to do what you got to do. Great push on that last mile. You are getting very very fast. All the training is really showing:)

Awesome run Teena! It's pretty much the same run I did Saturday. We think alike!
