2.5 miles with Sophers, AP 8:25.

Sophia chose to shorten the distance but run faster than usual. She is becoming such a great runner!! Shortened Sizzler Loop. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on training philosophies for http://sophia.fastrunningblog.com/  I would love to hear them. She wants to compete in the 400-meter (she has only raced that distance twice) and the 1500-meter beginning in Spring (she will be 11 by then). Her best 1500 meter time is 6:31. I think she could beat that right now though. I need to take her to the track one of these upcoming days.

7.5 miles by my lonesome on the JRP, AP 8:27.

** R PF tight and bit uncomfortable. Nike Frees? I only ran 3 miles in them last night and it was very slow. Really? Weird.

I won't lecture you about PF, because you know a lot more about it than I do and will probably take care of yourself better than I am right now, but be careful. I'm amazed how much this one is sticking around despite all the measures I'm taking to be nice to it!! I think my Elixers did mine to me, so I would say be careful. I seriously had no issues with PF (that were enough to make me notice anyway) until about mile 2.5 of the DesNews 10K and it all happened over about 3 steps. Cute shoes aren't worth it for me now. I'll stick with my pampered princess ones :)

Oh, and I meant to say as well that I have NO idea how to train for short races!! I've never done them, and I stink at 5K's...which is as short as I get. So, I'll leave the awesome track advice for Sophers to the big dawgs :)

Rachel~

No worries. When I catch things quickly like this they very rarely turn into anything big (knock on wood). I could easily run on it this morning (no meds/tapes/etc). It was just a bit of discomfort that I will definitely keep my eye on. :)Thanks for the concern. I do hope that your PF is finally starting to behave. You are absolutely right about PFs being stubborn at times! Have fun at Poky tomorrow. :)

I won't say I know anything at all about training for younger kids... except that I think that its awesome that Sophia is excited to run and WANTS to do it... I don't see anything wrong w/ running at her age as long as she is enjoying it. Variety is probably the most important thing. Has she thought about maybe running a 5K this fall?

Jake~

Sophia is planning on the Spanish Fork 5K a week from tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see if she runs around the pace that her and I usually run together or if she picks it up a notch. :)

I have LOVED running with her. It has also been fun to see how she thinks about running throughout the day. :) :) :)

That's so great - for both of you!

I think running a couple 5Ks will be great for her - start off easy and then she'll finish faster and feel good about that.

For the 400m, at her age, a lot of it comes down to how good her genetics are :-)

Nice running this morning Teena! I will definitely stop by Sophie's blog and think it's great that she's interested in running and that it is something you can enjoy together.

I am thinking about running the SF 5k next Sat so hopefully I will get to see you both there. :) Are you doing the half or the 5k?
