Went out for a slow short jog just to see how much better the knee felt when running on it.

It is still feeling pretty weak and discomfort during running. But no pain like before. When I put my hand over the side of my knee and move it I can still feel the IT Band "pop" over the side of the knee joint. When walking around I feel just fine and don't feel any discomfort.

I've been massaging it like mad and icing it like mad. I think I'm going to go ahead and purchase the supplements Sasha suggested.

I'm planning on getting out and tring to get another short jog in tonight.

Steve I hope your o.k. You'll have to watch it and play it by ear for Saturday. Call me if you think your not going to make it, just so I know.

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, Mar 23, 2006 at 19:28:15

Be careful. Probably not a good idea to push either mileage or speed for another week, but make sure to jog 5-8 miles a day if you feel good enough.

Hey Steve,

Sorry to hear the IT band is still bothering you, just continue to listen to your body and rest up, we need you healthy in a few weeks even if it means backing off a little the next few days. When I was coaching I would often encourage injured runners to continue to exercise the mental side of running by reading and researching good books.

Thanks for all the ideas and support.

Steve, they do have a support band you can put on just above the knee. They say it helps. I remember when I had IT band. Not fun. But with lots of stretching I finally got over it. Here is a link

Fear is the strongest driving force in competition. Not fear of one's opponent, but of the skill and high standard which he represents; fear, too, of not acquitting oneself well. In the achievement of greater performances, of beating formidable rivals, the athlete defeats fear and conquers himself.

Great Article Bill, Thanks. It had several exercises I have not been utilizing.
