Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. Easy miles on the river trail in St. George. I need to drink more water.

No running today, but I did a few loops on one of my favorite mountain biking trails in St. George.

Easy miles around campus. Back in Logan. Tried out some new shoes today, felt nice. My feet have consistently liked Saucony and Brooks, never had any issues with them.

I had plans to run on a certain trail, but it was 12 degrees this morning. I was hoping it would be upwards of 25, I guess I need to keep a closer eye on the weather. I quickly abandoned my plans for the trial and ran up to the ARC and ran on the treadmill there. 7:22 average pace. The outside of my left foot was hurting for the first mile or so on the treadmill but it went away.

Drove up to the mouth of Green Canyon, ran a little more than 3.5 miles up and then headed back. I was on a dirt road at first, but I found a trail that snaked up the canyon, so I went on that. Quite enjoyable. I did a lot of squats and lunges yesterday, which made the first few miles feel quite sluggish, but I ended up feeling pretty good. Temperature was in the high 30's and felt quite nice.

Slow miles. My quads felt quite heavy at first, and my feet started huring halfway through. Nice weather today, upper 40's.
