Good run. I love how easy it feels to bust out a half marathon on the taper.

Dude I would love to be at your fitness level right now!

From I Just Run on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 09:13:14 from 67.79.11.242

Hey Joe...Did you see the latest weather report on Weather.com? They are predicting 54 degrees at race time... :-)

From seeaprilrun on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 11:46:44 from 68.102.128.85

Don't worry, he saw it. He's been tracking it for two weeks on five different sites.

I thought I saw him smiling in his profile picture!

From Andrea on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 12:38:08 from 72.37.171.52

Hope you are able to get by without the bug. Sounds like your taper is going well! You are definitely capable of sub-3..now it's mental preparation time!

From Dan on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 18:58:56 from 24.209.83.20

You're ready Joe... Take some emergency-c and avoid that bug!

From SlowJoe on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 19:10:39 from 69.131.141.92

Well, despite my best efforts I spent a miserable, nasty day with the toilet (which will never be the same). Good news is it's a 24-hour thing, based on the how the rest of the family recovered. I am already feeling a little better from this morning (at least I am mobile now). Hoping I could even do a short run by tomorrow night.

IJR - I did see that weather (whew) on the five different sites I've been tracking for two weeks.

Oh great! Are you contagious? Why did I come to your blog. Get me some Lysol!

Did you puke up any toe nails?

From I Just Run on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 07:24:00 from 67.79.11.242

weather.com now says 51 degrees for Sunday morning...Too cold for me :-)

From JG on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 07:38:19 from 71.57.246.108

Hope it passes quickly Joe, best of luck Sunday ... your training has been spot on!

From derhammer on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 09:07:29 from 192.156.110.39

Joe, I can't wait to live vicariously through you on Sunday. I know you will run a sub 3 - of that I have no doubt!

From Neil on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 09:20:48 from 164.165.24.5

Nothing like a case of violent diarrhea and spastic vomiting to bring you down to race weight. ;) Remember, over 26.2 miles 1 lb = 1 min.

From flatlander on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 10:20:13 from 198.207.244.102

All I can say is get as much rest as you possibly can, eat as much as you want, and only run after you can't sleep any more. For me, after getting a bug, there is residual weakness for a while that doesn't show up until quite late in the marathon (I have run a couple this way). You are young so it might not happen to the same extent, but I still think rest is king. A couple of well-spaced hard 3-mile runs should suffice to maintain fitness. So exciting to see you and Preston go for it on a cool morning in OKC.

From SlowJoe on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 11:49:07 from 155.219.241.10

thanks everyone, I'm definitely not 100% yet but feel like I should be able to do a short run after work.

Neil - Sweet, I definitely dropped a couple minutes yesterday!

flat - thanks for the good input and advice. the timing could definitely have been worse
