31F.  8:22 AP.  Well, it's been 10 days so I jogged around for a few miles this morning.  Kinda nice to skip the achy, tired-leg runs after a marathon.  Felt pretty decent, although I was out of breath after about 3 steps.  That feeling will go away in a couple weeks, though.

I managed to gain 5 or 6 pounds, which I'm pretty impressed with.  It's usually hard for me to gain weight, but I was able to accomplish it by not doing any exercise whatsoever and eating greasy foods almost exclusively.  If I had anything healthy in the last 10 days, I don't remember it.  Anyway, it's time to start reversing the trend again.

Ha ha...It sounds like you and I are alot alike. We both struggle to gain weight and eat pretty much whatever we want. I have actually gained more weight since I started running (about 8 lbs) and everone keeps asking me if I've lost weight. I believe most of the weight I've gained is in my legs.

I think the downtime will do you good in the long term. It always stinks to feel out of shape but its worth it when you aren't broken down and burnt out 2 months from now.

After my last race, I gave my co-workers a schedule of all of the greasy food establishments I would be visiting that week. I told them "You can choose to come with me, or not. I just want you to know that this WILL be happening." Most of those meals came with a side of "heart defibrillator." TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Pretty good plan for weight gain Joe.... Works for me also. Normally a 32oz Coke every 3 hours helps speed up the process.

IJR - I'm just glad running doesn't make me drop any additional weight or I might disappear.

Jake - definitely - the 10 days off might become my new standard. It's nice not to have any post-marathon twinges anywhere

Tom - we better both get our cholesterol checked soon. Not that I would change anything...grease is delicious.

Rye - 32 oz...I like your style. Our vending machine at work only has 20 oz, but I think I've paid for the cost of the entire machine by now.

Good job, wish I had so much trouble gaining weight. I run to keep it off, and if I even drop my miles a little bit it comes back on.
