5am, 72F!!  Where did that cool air come from?  My target was 8:30s today, but the temperature was so nice I just ran easy and let the splits fall where they may...an evenly-paced 8:09 avg.  Coolest temps in months for me.  I actually had more energy after this run than any of my previous runs since the layoff.  Stiil, I will try to slow it down in the future until I start doing MP/tempo runs.  There are a couple 5Ks this weekend; I think I will do at least one and get the sub-22 that I should've gotten awhile ago.  There's one on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Strategy will be to not accept anything slower than 6:59 for miles 1 and 2.  The rest should take care of itself.

My new theory on my heel is that it isn't the tendon this time (although it was before).  This is a good thing, I think.  Now the discomfort comes when my foot hits the ground, and it's more the back of the heel, right below the heel bone.  Calcaneal bursitis is the only thing my googling found that makes sense.  Hopefully, it's just a bruise though - that is what it feels like.  It's totally runnable, just feels like a hotspot back there, and really it depends how I land.  I might never figure it out.  I vow that this is my last entry complaining about it unless it gets too bad to run on.

Hopefully it gets better without you knowing what it is! Sounds like it is starting to!

Nice cooler temps. Love when the cool weather invites a little friskiness!

I'm going to hold you to that vow.

Eh, talk about the niggles--it's like therapy, helps work them out! :) What lovely temps! The cool air is like a pair of wings!

Tracy! Friskiness? I thought this was a family blog. LOL I'm kidding...April's niggles is much more offensive. :-)

I THINK it is Tracy. Anyway it seems more benign the last couple days.

April, I can't discuss my, uhhh, niggles now or I have to face Burt's wrath. And he is ripped from P90X.

BnS - I have 3 more months before I can get frisky with my niggles.

Ha ha. I think Joe stepped over the line :)

I think you having a family UNfriendly blog is why the AP isn't calling you for comment before races, Joe. Just sayin'.

Tracy - totally agree, Joe definitely took it to a HNL. Shame on you, Joe! I never imagined one of our service men speaking like that. I'm sure you're shunned by your buddies for having such a dirty mouth so I don't need to berate you any more. I'll let them handle it. Lucky for you there are several lawyers on the blog that might represent you if you get court marshaled because of it. lol

JOE! Geez. Okay, that's it, we shouldn't discuss Joe's niggles anymore. From my experience with the press, I've learned not to bring such things up in an interview. Call me if you ever need any advice on dealing with the media.

What? I meant you have to be careful with injuries. What were you people thinking??
