90F -> 80F (10pm - 7am).  Tough, tough race!  Hot, no breeze, and the climbs were steep - even included 30-40 tall stairs per lap.  Lots of hiking/walking.  By the end I was barely making it up.  I ended up doing 17 laps (~2.7 miles per lap).  But I had the option to do another since the clock hadn't hit 9 hours yet - was leading the race and I just thought there was no way I could physically make it around again.  So I lost because the guy a few minutes behind me did go out for #18.  Felt really dumb/wimpy after that one.

I'm calling you the winner too ... because I know you could have done it! These races seem more like torture than racing. :-)

Nice racing. I hate those second-guessing moments. Your body was screaming and you listened, so you can't beat yourself up over that. Easier to stay healthy when you're not exhausted. Great effort not-so-slow Joe.

Beast mode! Beating my average weekly miles in one race, PLUS STAIRS!? Dude, you are a wild man! Great run, Joe.

Nice work, Joe. That's a long way to run and it's a really long way to run in that heat when you are typically sleeping!

Thanks all. I knew the rules going in, so the guy that won deserves it. One of those things where in hindsight it seems like you could've done it, but yeah - in the moment...no way. I'm glad the memory is a bit painful, maybe I'll remember this next time I'm faced with a similar decision.

Found out it was 315 ft gain per loop, which equates to 5355 ft over the whole race - just over a vertical mile. Probably more "vert" than I usually get in a year!

Great job Joe. You did as much as you could and that's all you can ask of yourself.
