AM:  80F, 80%.  12 @ 7:47 AP.  Ran from my parents' to Memorial Park to do a loop there, but was feeling like I'd finally overcome the plague so I decided to add another 3-mile loop at the park.  Got a nasty stomach cramp after the 2nd loop, so I took a good 3-4 minute break at a water fountain to stretch it out and rehydrate; that was pretty much successful.  Then I started melting a little on the way back home and was generally happy the run was over with.  Alright, that's about all I have to say about that.

PM:  85F, 70%.  4 @ 8:22 AP.  Great steak dinner tonight, had to wait a couple hours after that, then got out @ ~9pm after watching Rupp win the 10k in the trials.  I finished my first 5k faster than all those so-called professionals finished their 10k.

79F, 90%.  5 @ 8:02 AP.  Did a pitiful little pickup on the way back.  That was my last run in Houston, but it's not any less miserable back here in SA.  Arrived at lunch to a 104 heat index which I assume will keep going up.

Tomorrow, headed to Bandera for several hours of sufferplodding.  Must adapt.  Must adapt.  Must adapt.

AM:  76F/90% -> 83F/77%.  ~18 miles.  Good run in Bandera, some solid suffering took place.  Cool-ish start with overcast skies turned into full bore sun and heat the last couple hours.

Good company as well - anytime you can find a bunch of people willing to wake up early on a holiday just to spend hours running/sweating through rugged terrain/hills, getting leg-whipped by sotol cacti, tripping on rocks, and still smiling the whole time, you know you've found a good group.

PM:  93F.  5 @ 8:27 AP.  Decided to double up, simply because I had the time to do so.

Untimed...don't even remember what shoes I had on.  Usually I can narrow it down to a couple pairs, but I got nothing.

TM.  10 @ 6:54 AP.  Progressive fun with lots of button pushing.

This week was pretty much a blur of work/life chaos, and running suffered, so I made sure I got in this ridiculously early run despite no sleep.  Although I must say it was pretty nice being the first (and only) person in the fitness center at work -- pristine toilet seats with no distractions before the run, good solitary exercise at a gym of all places, and then first one to christen the shower after its nightly cleaning.

TM.  16 @ 6:38 AP.  Long progressive tempo, each mile a little faster than the one before it.  After a warmup, spent most of this run between 9-10 mph.

93F -> 86F.  Better race today, almost even splits.  These night races almost get easier as it gets cooler in the second half.  But not quite.  Really competitive field so a pretty good result, with 2nd place just a minute ahead (same guy that beat me in Waco).  These night races are crazy, always lots of carnage.  But super fun.

Got back from the race around 6am, hung out most of the night at our group's tent.  Great bunch of people.

9-hour race on Saturday night in Dallas.  I'm sure it'll go well...

93F.  4 @ 8:23 AP.  Couldn't get out until after dinner.  I think I'm almost getting used to the heat...it still sucks, but I think I'm doing better than in previous years thanks to this trail running business.

77F, 85%.  6 @ 8:11 AP.  Fairly low DP today, only 71.  Haven't seen it that low in awhile and could tell a difference.  Might be even lower up in Dallas in the Saturday night / Sunday morning period of darkness when the race takes place.

90F -> 80F (10pm - 7am).  Tough, tough race!  Hot, no breeze, and the climbs were steep - even included 30-40 tall stairs per lap.  Lots of hiking/walking.  By the end I was barely making it up.  I ended up doing 17 laps (~2.7 miles per lap).  But I had the option to do another since the clock hadn't hit 9 hours yet - was leading the race and I just thought there was no way I could physically make it around again.  So I lost because the guy a few minutes behind me did go out for #18.  Felt really dumb/wimpy after that one.
