93F -> 86F.  Better race today, almost even splits.  These night races almost get easier as it gets cooler in the second half.  But not quite.  Really competitive field so a pretty good result, with 2nd place just a minute ahead (same guy that beat me in Waco).  These night races are crazy, always lots of carnage.  But super fun.

3rd place - excellent!

Tell me more about the carnage!

Great racing Joe! Glad to see it. Yes, do not spare the carnage details!

Do they ever run these races in the fall and winter when the temps are lower? ...not that I'm at all interested, just curious. Nice placing, as usual! How may people run these type races?

I like that the temperature does negative splits. That surely helps with running even splits!

Looks like you are still kicking butt - congrats!

Thanks guys. The carnage - really a miserably hot race so lots of DNFs. I ended up passing the guy who won the last couple trail races I ran in the last couple miles as he blew up and was walking. There was also some physical carnage - bloody limbs and such - this weird side hill section on boulders that was crazy to try and navigate at night. I stayed upright the whole night somehow, just ran into a tree once.

IJR - they go all year, yeah. Never a big field, usually tops out around 100 people per distance, depending on the race. You should join us for one! http://texastrailchampionship.com/2016-series-calendar/
