Legs are still pretty trashed 2 days later.  They are feeling worse than they did after my first marathon in Houston, probably due to the hills and the additional miles I was able to maintain pace.  I'm guessing no run tomorrow, but maybe Thursday.

Some more random race stuff since it's still on my brain...

  • My first 10k (44:52) and half (1:36:21) were both technically PR's.
  • I was top 3% overall, top 4% of men, and top 7% of AG
  • In the last 10K, I passed 12 people and was passed by 4

I also looked more at the splits vs. elevation and wind and am convinced I ran a really even-paced race until the very end, so I don't think I could have done any better, strategically.

And finally, a couple of pictures.  I'm really not as miserable as I look, that's just my running face apparently.  Ok, maybe a little worse than usual, it was a marathon.

Somewhere between miles 21 and 24, going around the wall of half-marathoners.

not sure exactly where this was

What, you weren't paying attention to your surroundings? After I finished Richmond my sister said wasn't that a beautiful lake? I had no idea what she was talking about. Thanks for the pictures.

For once, you have better race pictures than me...even with that facial expression, mine is still worse.

I went to possibly buy a picture or two of me in the race, but after looking at them decided not to... I'm sure I actually looked that tired and old but I don't want to remember it that way :) Someone asked me what I thought about the race and all I could really remember is that the pavement looked the same throughout the whole race!

Flat - definitely, same thing happens to me

Danielle - is it bad if I agree with you?

IJR - yeah I think we all look miserable trying to squint in the rain, and the photographers seem to have taken a fraction of the shots you'd normally see. Can't say I blame them.

I like how you're blasting right past the half marathoners. Sure, some of them are walking, but still.

From SlowJoe'sGrl on Wed, May 04, 2011 at 17:04:32 from 184.79.24.255

Yes, Joe, it's bad if you agree with me. I just look sad and cold. You should feel sorry for me that I couldn't run fast enough to beat the hail.

What? I don't like your new blog name.

Still think it should be "Turbo Joe" ... I was right all the time...!
