34F, 7:18 AP.  7-mile progression run and 1 cool-down mile.  Started slow and let the pace progress naturally.  Toward the end of mile 7, it no longer felt natural so I jogged the last one home.  Probably could have forced mile 8 down there, but I'm not ready for an "effort" yet; trying to do the whole "listen" thing more.  It'll be 2-3 weeks probably before those paces feel natural again, I guess.  I did well to pull the plug and keep it aerobic.

8:10, 7:51, 7:28, 7:14, 6:53, 6:42, 6:37.  cool down 7:31.

The progression run has kind of fallen off my radar for awhile.  I've also started a trend of positive-splitting most races.  Coincidence?

Good effort Joe. I'll knock up some stuff on progression runs tonight and fire it over to you.

I'll also include some stuff on the hill blasts. I did the hill blasts today and I think today was the first time I managed to get them bang on; hopefully I'll save you a lot of time with the old trial and error.

Just going out for a cheeky little 5 miler, then I'll have some snap and chat to the old lady (enough to make her think I'm interested etc:)and then I'll get to work.

It won't take long, Joe. There were days when 6:37 would have been a "good" split in a 5k I'm sure. I tend to run all runs slightly progressively, but not substantially so, which isn't always great with slow, easy runs because it doesn't teach patience. But the progression you have done here is great for fitness and teaching you to run smart. Negative splitting the marathon is tough. Not many people on the blog doing that. I think the 5k and the marathon are hardest to negative split, but others may have a different experience.

Smart run today Joe. You'll be back to 6:30's feeling normal in no time. This talk about negative splits is kind of ironic. I've been pondering it quite a bit on my last few runs.
