6 @ 7:57 pace.  Legs and lungs felt like it was 8:20s.  Promising...

Less-than-promising is my stupid hip.  It stops hurting when I run or sit down.  Walking around, it acts weird.  I have no idea, even with all my Googling, what it is.  Anything from hip flexor strain, to IT band, to snapping hip (it only snaps in the morning a couple times).  Anyway, whatever it is, it feels better after a minute of walking or jogging.  Also found out it goes away with ibuprofen.  So I won't worry about it for the race - probably just paranoia at this point.

Nice job! Sounds like your training is paying off in greater stamina and strength. I become overly paranoid about different aches and pains every once in a while. I wonder if that little pain in the muscle is the beginning of something bad. Most of the time it turns out to be nothing or something that goes away with a little time. Hopefully your hip is the same! Being in tune is important though!

I suspect this close to a big race there is a little bit of paranoia happening--things that you didn't pay much attention to before suddenly magnify. You know your body best and do pay attention--but if you can run okay then I wouldn't trip too much about it right now! I know when I am in the throes of taper madness every tweak or twinge feels like impending major-injury disaster.

Nice run Joe! I've been feeling it in my right hip too as of late! Probably an IT band issue. Get in some good stretching and ice it if need be. Can't wait to hear about your race this weekend! You will do awesome!

Just keep stretching hip flexors and ITB so that you can feel a little more comfortable when you aren't running or sitting down.

If it disappears once you warm up a little, that's all you need for the race, right?
