6 easy around my sister-in-law's neighborhood in Austin this morning, 8:10-8:20s.

We're now in Houston after spening the night in Austin.  Checked the forecast, and it's looking pretty crappy.  Warm and rainy.  I haven't run too much in the rain so I'm not sure what it does to performance - hopefully it's not too bad.  Maybe it'll even cool us off a bit?  Anyway, nothing I can do about so might as well suck it up.

Taking tomorrow off, then a short run (maybe in the rain?) on Saturday.  Race Sunday.

Yep, I was just looking at that. Pros: no wind to speak of, and warm enough that if we do get rained on it won't be freezing. Cons: heavy rain can make shoes sloshy, but light rain and it's kinda nice. From what I gather, the rain really isn't supposed to start until later in the morning, so the chance of finishing the race before it starts is high. So really, on the optimistic side, 50s and overcast with no wind is pretty perfect weather--it may work out nicely!

I'll be crossing my fingers that the rain stays away until late!

Glad you are more optimistic than me! Surely it can't just pour the whole time though, might be sorta nice after all. As long as the thunder/lightning stays away and they have a race, I'll be happy

If the forecast is for rain on race day, that could be a good thing. When I ran the St. George Marathon in '08, it poured the entire race. Just make sure to tape your nipples. lol. I believe the rain actually does keep a person cool. It has helped me a lot in the two marathons I've run with non-stop rain

Thanks for the insight Dale, good to know it might've actually helped you.

Glad I could help. The other marathon I ran in the rain was Utah Valley Marathon last year. I guess the fast people stayed ahead of the rain, but I was stuck in a torrential downpour most of the time. My shoes and everything on me was sopping wet. I bet I was carrying 10 extra lbs of water.
