More good news yesterday - my marathon plans are on hold and Houston is out.  I'm being deployed again, this time to beautiful sunny Iraq.  Leave in July, back in January or early Feb.  Here we go again...  Not sure if I'll be able to keep up consistent training but I think I will still be able to run some, depending on where I go.  Either way, Houston in January is out, so maybe I can do OKC in April 2011.  I'm pretty sure I'll still be able to get on the blog overseas, but we'll see.

I think my hip is getting a lot better so I might try an easy mile on the TM toward the end of next week.

Ah man! I count my blessings now that my husband is out of the military. I feel for your wife and kids! How long have you been in? Anyways, glad the hip is feeling better--don't know what kind of training you will be able to do overseas--but hope you can keep up some kind of training!

Wow, had no idea that was coming down the chute. Hope all is well with your family. I have heard of guys training in Iraq, but I guess you are right, it depends on where you are deployed. Good luck and hope your hip lets you get some good training before you leave.

April - I'm in my 7th year and planning to separate in 2012 or so. Funny thing is that just last week I was telling Danielle that we were probably done with deployments!

Flat - me neither! In fact I just got to a new squadron that doesn't deploy, but they had a single-man tasker for a specific job that I fit. I'll make the best of it, but the military isn't scoring any points with my wife!

Sorry about the deployment news Joe! Just wondering what your MOS in the air force is?

Vinh - I'm a weapons systems officer (12B3) which basically means I drop bombs out of jets, but we also carry an electronic warfare specialty (which is what the Army wants help with) so I won't be flying this time.

Joe, I read this last week and I don't know why I didn't comment. That's tough news, especially when you weren't expecting it. How many times have you gone overseas?

And thanks for what you do.

Thanks, it's the 3rd trip in 3 years so it's getting a little tiresome but it's always different and exciting when I get there. My wife's the one who has it tough.
