79F.  7:47 avg.  I convinced myself to get in a workout today - 6 heat-adjusted, tempo-paced miles.  To seal the deal in this self-arbitration proceeding (which took place during my warmup), I offered a 1-minute jog between each mile.  So the workout was first 8 miles easy, then 6 x 1-mile with 60 sec jog in between.  Then cool down whatever was left.

EZ 8 -- 8:10 AP

tempo 6 -- 7:09 AP (7:15, 7:12, 7:12, 7:14, 7:07, 6:53).

The 1-minute jogs were around 8:20s for the pace.  I liked this workout.  One minute is obviously not enough to recover much, but it gives you something to look forward to.  It was hard enough that I was glad to be done but easy enough that I didn't want to quit running, which is the normal workout feeling for me.

This afternoon, I'm going in to get my free massage from winning a 5K awhile back.  I'm a little nervous that it might be from a dude, because they didn't say.  I know Danielle thinks I'm stupid, but I am going to try to be mature either way.

LOL I'm sure you can handle it. Nice idea on the tempo miles in the heat--sounds like you did it just right!

Convince yourself to do 15 and then don't really want to stop? haha! I am going to try to run 16 tomorrow and I have been trying to pump myself up all week!

How did the massage go? I have never had one. I think it would make me sick! haha! I don't think I would enjoy a stranger rubbing me down....but everyone seems to love them. I know, I am just strange!

Just don't turn the massage into a Seinfeld episode, either way. :-)

Nice mile repeats, BTW.

Don't worry everyone, it ended up being a lady - no George Costanza moment!

Great mileage this week! I had a massage earlier this Spring when I was having achilles issues ... it ended up being a guy & I told him just to focus on the calves, no need to go above the knee cap! lol

Your heat adjusted tempo is faster than my tempo tempo!!! NICE workout.

How was the massage??? I can not stand people touching me, so I hear ya! Hope it wasn't a dude. ;o)

Very nice run, this way you can run slow with us in the morning and not feel like you wasted the week. My wife got a massage once from a guy she named Sven. She has been talking about it for years.

Thanks JG, I think I woulda done the same.

Kelli - whatever, I've seen your marathon PR (which was in the heat if I remember correctly)! Massage was ok, not a dude so I was able to relax.

Flat - this massage wasn't so memorable, but at least it wasn't from Sven.

Those PR's last year were not really me, you will see. It was a fluke! Yes, in the heat, and, yes, made me puke.

Glad the massage went well. They scare me, i have only given in and had one (after the 50 miler) and it was miserable.
