54F.  Felt terrible to start out but when the caffeine kicked in around mile 4, I started running normally.  7:25/mile overall.

Pretty pleasant except for the dogs at mile 8 (and therefore also mile 10).  One was snarling pretty viciously and looked ready to bite so I made a move at him and shouted at him as loud as I could and he backed off....for about 10 seconds.  Had to repeat the process a couple more times.  Then of course I had to see them again 15 minutes later since it was near my turnaround point.  My shouting did not wake the owners, I guess, because they were nowhere to be seen.  The agressive one was pretty good sized, and could have definitely done some damage.  He must have re-formulated his plan of attack over the 15-minute break, because now he was coming at me from behind instead of from the side.  So I stopped and charged after him for a few steps and shouted "NO" again.  That deterred him long enough to stop caring about chasing me, and he just did his barking from 10-20 feet away after that.  The joys of running out in the country...

Glad to hear the dog didn't bite you...It would have been ashamed to have to put the dog down because of fear of rabies from you :-)

Nice run but the way!!!

Ah, this sounds familiar. Time to mace a few dogs and get it over with. Doesn't hurt them terribly and they think twice before getting rowdy again. Great run and pace.

IJR - Well, I feel rabies is something to be shared, not kept to yourself!

April - Hmm, we do have some unused mace that I bought for Danielle from back when we lived in Houston. So far I've been able to scare every loose dog with the alpha male thing, but you never know....

I usually mark the homes out that have dogs with issues and look for a nice rock or two. I hang on to them for a while just in case. How are you at throwing? You want to make sure you hit with the first throw!

Really laughing at this one, which is OK I think b/c Joe wasn't actually bit. Rye, I thought you were the dog whisperer!
