8:32 AP.  Cut off the run, not feeling too well.  Looks like I'll be forced into not running tomorrow due to work so maybe the rest will be good, although I won't get much sleep.  If everything goes ok with work tomorrow, I should still be able to get in my 20-miler on Sunday.

Hey Joe,

I didn't even run this morning...went to bed really late. I'm going to have to run tomorrow too but am torn as to what to do. I have a 20 miler scheduled on Sunday also. Hummm...tomorrow..? run hard, run long, run hard and long, run easy, run short, run short and easy..? Now you know how complicated my thoughts are in my running schedule :)

I like to do an easy 6-miler the day before going 20 (although like I said I can't run tomorrow). But I've also seen people go 10+ the day before so they are running on tired legs to mimic the marathon. I'm not that ambitious.

Sorry I mis-read...the "not running"...

Since I didn't run today I think I will be ambitious and do the 10 followed by the 20. We'll see how that goes. Have a great weekend. BTW...I didn't sign up yesterday for OK but I will today.

Joe -

Did you get a water belt yet? I am curious as to what you do for hydration on a 20 mile run. In case you have interest I think the fuel belt is the best. It does not move around and I sometimes forget it is even there.

IRJ - what you do tomorrow should be based on what your plan is for the 20 miler on Sunday - easy all the way or MGP thrown in. If you want to get the most out of the 20 miler than tomorrow should be pretty easy. My two cents.

DH - we do have a smaller 20 oz fuel belt (2 x 10 oz bottles). Never thought about taking it on a race until recently though; I do agree it's not that noticeable after awhile.

For my last 20-miler, I chugged water beforehand, carried a 20 oz gatorade bottle with me to nurse for the first 5 miles, then used the 20 oz on the belt throughout the last 15. Worked fine with cool temps, but I haven't had to do 20 in hot conditions yet. Fortunately this Sunday looks nice and cool.

As I had mentioned earlier this week in the Blog, I think that dehydration was one of the factors that affected me for a couple of days. As I remember I drank 16 oz of Powerade before bedtime, 16 oz in the middle of the night, 16 oz as soon as I got up, carried a 16 oz bottle and my belt with four 4 oz bottles and drank it all after 8 miles of run. I'm not sure what I'm going to do...maybe run small circles near my house or hide water bottles on the side of the road...? It's a delima for me, I can't carry 10 pounds of water and run very fast...LOL

Hey Der Hammer,

I was thinking of running the 10 easy then see how I felt for the 20. I would like to push for actual marathon pace (7:40 to 8:00) if possible.

Sorry Slow Joe for using your Blog for my discussion... :)

Fortunately for me my group runs are all supported. That is, there is water and gatorade every 4 miles. However, on occasion some of us will deviate from the plan and supported course. In this case we will "plant" bottles of water or gatorade somewhere along the course. It requires a drive but it works for us. It's an idea anyway.

Joe, hope you are feeling better. Don't hesitate to pull back tomorrow if needed.
