Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

Weather.com said it was 73 degrees when I got back, but it felt much hotter.  My husband and I slept 10 hours last night and the night before, which felt GREAT, but it will make it hard to get up tomorrow morning to do hill sprints-yuck!

Today I did 6 easy miles in 58:56, a 9:49 average.  I am still very impatient and wish I was getting faster.  Of course, I am increasing my mileage too.  Oh well.  I wasn't sore from the 5K at all while running, but I could feel it when I was stretching at the end.

We did two form drills at the end.  I'm sure our neighbors got a good laugh out of it!

If you consistently get out and run, and you increase your miles wisely, your speed will naturally drop. Your biggest enemies are unplanned days off and overanalyzing pace on easy days. It sounds like you got into St. George marathon? It will be great to meet you!

What! You're not sore? I am speechless, (for once). :) Even if I only ran a 27:00 5K, I would still be sore. What is going on here?

Great job on your run. You are going to have a great race in St. George!

Michelle-yes, I got into St. George! I'm looking forward to meeting you too, and to running what I hear is a great, fast marathon! Maybe I'll chuck the Garmin on the recovery runs...

Lybi-I am not sore probably because I didn't push it hard enough on that first mile. I need to learn how to go all out without hitting the wall. Hmmmm....

I hope we see each other again before St. George!
