Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

Sore, sore, so sore!  My glutes were on fire, and everything else started hurting during the run.  I had no idea hill sprints would make me so sore!  I need to take it easy so I don't injure myself, but I also need to be building up the miles.  I'm supposed to run close to 40 miles this week, but that would mean almost doubling my miles, which I'm not going to do.  I'll try to top out around 30.

Total time was 40:55, average 10:15 pace-yuck!  I saw a big rabbit about 2 blocks from my house and a BIG "lender foreclosure" sign about 1.7 miles from my house.  I hope I don't see too many more of those!

You're having a great week so far. Just remember you are probably still recovering from the 5k, so let yourself have a little recovery- you earned it!

Yeah, I wouldn't jump miles more to more than 30 miles this week. Most of your runs in the week should be easy, so relax about the pace. Look at Tom's blog (http://tom.fastrunningblog.com/), he runs probably 1/3 of his miles at about 10 minute pace, yet he should break 3:00 at St. George. Easy runs should be easy and hard runs should be hard. Sore gluts=gluts of steel, right?!?

Wow! Great job, Shauna. I almost NEVER run hard enough to make myself sore in just a workout. You are a tough one!
