Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

OK, I'm back.  Tonight was my first run since the marathon.  I ran slowly with a friend, and we chatted the whole time, which was fun (and a good indicator of an easy pace).  It felt fine, with the exception of slight left hip and groin pain.  I sprinted at the very end, which also hurt more than it should.  So, I'm obviously not completely recovered yet.

It's racing season down here, and there are so many races coming up.  I have to stay focused on my March half, though.  I'm tempted to do a 10K in a few weeks.  I really hate 10Ks, so I rarely do them, but I probably should do it to see what kind of shape I'm in.  I know I am in much better shape than what my marathon time reflected....

Tomorrow I'll do 5 miles a little faster and see how I feel.

Great job, Shauna! Hey, I've been thinking I probably "should" do a 10K before I do my half in April, since I've never really raced longer than a 5K. Which one are you doing, and what day?

Glad to see you back at it. 10k's are great, I would definantly run one before your half.

Get right back on the horse...good run and good luck with the "in season" training!

Lybi, there is a 10K in Cave Creek on 2/16, which is supposed to be a fast course. There is also one in Queen Creek on 2/2 (also a half marathon at that one). I'd love to run one with you. Cave Creek is closer to me, but Queen Creek would be closer to you. Let me know! Glad you figured things out with the chiro.

Great job getting back out there. Sounds like an enjoyable run w/ a friend. I say register for a 10k, it always helps keep me focused & motivated. (Plus I'm doing a 10k in Feb. and we can chat about it... hee hee)
