Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

I'm getting better at this early-morning thing.  I actually woke up a couple minutes before the alarm went off!  I ran 6 miles on my normal trail, and it was getting really busy around 6:30.  I just took it easy but felt a little sluggish.  I don't know if it's because I ran hills last night or because I was STARVING before mile 3, or both.

No Garmin or iPod, 77 degrees at the end of the run, felt OK weather-wise, not too hot.

Kudo's for running without music! I don't think I could do it. Starving by mile 3? do you eat anything before you run? I usually eat a neutra grain bar before my run.

Great job on getting out and running. I know after I work out at night I have a hard time getting up early the next morning to work out.

Yea, the weather is the best motivator. After a few zaps of the heat, getting up early doesn't seem as unpleasant, does it? Great job!

Thanks for your encouragement on my blog! It looks like you've been doing well and getting some mileage in! Have you decided on a fall marathon yet?

Linda, I don't have a choice on the music thing until I get my insurance check and can buy a new computer and iPod! It's been going OK, though. I used to never run with music.

Lybi, I really never thought I could be a morning runner. Yay for the heat!

Lauren, my husband and I both got into the St. George marathon, so we'll be heading up there this fall. I will probably do PF Chang's again in January-you should come up for it!
