Went for an early morning-dark run. It was the first 'cold' day since I can remember. I headed out then turned back for the gloves and hat. Ran over to the Bloomington Hills Park and back. Again today I was concentrating on running not speed. I got the run in without walking at all. Felt strong for the whole run. I need to get this 'endurance' part of running down so that I can then move into speeding it up. Ran the 7.65 miles at 8:52 pace. The last half was faster then the second have but still not fast at all.

I think that I should be doing more runs like this so that my body can adapt better to races.

Thats exactly the way to do it. Worry about speed later. Let consistancy be the goal.

Thanks James! I realized that most of my training has been at the same basic pace. I have mixed up speed during my workout but overall I have been averaging about the same overall pace. It was nice running slow and not caring. I have read some articles about running 1 1/2 to 2 minutes under your marathon pace in training runs but have never done it that way. I decided that running faster would do more good for me......we shall see when Mesquite comes up in a month!
