I have been sick all week. Laying around not being able to breath, headaches, sinus pressure......you get the picture.

Last night I decided no way was I going to go to Cedar and run the Summer Games 10k. I tossed and turned all night and then looked at the clock, 4:45, If I get up and go now I can make it in time. So I went-

It sure was tough trying to breath in the higher elevation plus I couldn't breath well anyway. Went out at 6:36 pace for the first mile wondering how long I could hold this pace. Kept pretty steady through mile 2 with 6:46. The things started getting tough with the breathing 7:07/ 7:43, At this point I decided the only way I could finish with out dying would be to take some walk breaks---7:36/ 7:21 and finished the last .2 at 7:09

Not so happy about the time but happy I finished and won my age group, I ended up being the only one, wish I would have known that before the race then I could have had a lot more fun..lol

We shall see how the 5k goes in the morning-----

Good job on the AG win - sorry you're not feeling well.

Thanks! It was a nice victory, I was the only one in the group....lol But hey, gold is gold, I didn't know how many were running until after the race so I didn't run any different.

Scott,

It was great to talk with you today. Congratulations on your race and time despite the illness. These things are tough when you can breathe normally -- and doubly tough when you can't. You deserve a 10 out of 10 for the effort. I'll look for you at the next one.
