I ran the Mesquite Marathon this morning, a last minute decision. I went down to just have a fun run with no pressure. I got close to Mesquite and realized that I had left my garmin at home....Ticked off!

Overall: Tough course, especially the last 12 miles.

I had a giant PR by 10 1/2 minutes over St. George! 3:28:26 and placed 2nd in my age group, there were at least 22 in the group that had signed up maybe more.

I have no splits just a great PR and BQ.

Wow, Scott. Great race. Congratulations. I hope you had your sign tucked away somewhere, but probably not if you didn't even remember your Garmin. I'm amazed at your running progress in just one year's time. AWESOME.

AWESOME PR!!!! All of that on a last minute decision to go run for fun, WOW!! Nice job.

So, how does the race compare to St George in your opinion?

From scotthughes on Sat, Nov 21, 2009 at 16:19:55 from 209.33.211.3

Thanks Vis! It has been a very good fall for me!

Thanks Kelli! Compared to St. George this is harder. The first 14 are easier than SG, nice downhill for the most part but not pounding...just a nice easy down. The middle is easier than SG compared to Veyo and Dammeron in a way but it drags on. The last 10k are tough. Mostly flat and slight rollers, not much down at all...I like to have some drop to finish of. Overall I would say this is 5 minutes slower than SG...my two bits anyway! There were a lot of people complaining about how hard the end was. I believe the winner hit a 2:16!!!

I wondered how it compared, I thought it looked harder but many were thinking it might be faster! BUT, hey, you PR'd on a harder course and got a BQ!!!

I like downhill at the end, too. In fact, I think it is a must!!!

great job again, rest up!

Scott that is so AWESOME! Way to go man you really have worked hard and were due for a good race. BQ baby... I'm pumped for ya.

Congrats!

I was there and left at around 3:25 for Vegas. Only a few more min's and I would have saw your finish... dang!

Good Job on the PR!!! The course was difficult but enjoyable. I ran with a friend, so we ran extra slow for me!! :) She didn't get her sub-4, so it was a good training run for me!

way to PR and get your BQ! geez, are you as sore as I am today?

Sourness is not too bad...that will set in tonight and Monday. LOL Great run! It was a very layed back race. I guess in a way that is part of the enjoyment for me. Boston 2011...we need to get a bunch of bloggers and go do it!

Nice meeting you yesterday Scott. I knew you'd do well. You're hard core.

Great job this was very tough and that is impressive to run faster than SG.

Great running! I wished I couldve had a PR over SGM! It was great weather conditions for coming home (SLC) to Snow.

Nicely done. PR on a last minute decision, and a BQ to boot?! Amazin'!
