5:45 am - 9.0 miles with the BBK's at Riverton High Track.

Given that the boys are up with the inlaws at Wolf Creek for the week (we join up with them Wednesday night) I thought I would hook up with the BBK's while I had a chance.

The planed workout was 1 mile warm-up with strides on the straights for the last 800 meters, followed by Yasso 800's with 400 meter active recovery, and finished off with a cool down in the neighborhoods.  I didn't know many 800's we were to do so I was mentally prepairing for 10, but the plan was to do 6.  I did 7 as a result of lapping the field.  My 800 times were 2:43 (1:17 400 - oops), 2:51, 2:53, 2:51, 2:54, 2:54 and 2:56.  My average 800 time was 2:52 for an average pace of 5:42.

I finished of the workout with a chatty 2.5 mile cool-down at 8:26 pace.

excellent splits for the yasso workout. approaching 2:50 for the marathon, it seems!

I am sorry you were preparing for 10!! Wasn't it a pleasant surprise to only have to do 6 (or 7)?? Maybe you can find a way to join us when we do the 8 Yasso's----the true test (or so they say) for the marathon time prediction.

Very solid yassos, you were certainly flying. It is amazing the difference 10-12 seconds makes, you were so far ahead of all of us!

Glad you enjoyed the chatty cool down, it is my favorite part. Too bad you dare devils took the road and us girls too the road less traveled. ;o)

allie - thanks, now I just need to decide which one I dare to try - maybe SLC next year.

Kelli - I was relieved when they were wrapping up at 6 (I really could have and probably should have done number 8). I need to decide if I feel comfortable leaving my 7 and 4 year-old home while Aubrey is working (she works at home but really can't be bothered unless it is something serious) so I can meet up with you all on Thursdays. I do like the whole sunrise thing.

Do they get up that early?? My kids are all still in bed when I get home most of the time (of course that changes after next week when they are ALL in school ALL day---YEAH!!!)

From Chad Robinson on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 18:31:17 from 67.136.62.186

My 4-year-old varies between 6:30 and 8:00 but he just climbs into bed with me and goes back to sleep. I think I am going to make Thursday a regular event. If anything happens Aubrey is just down the hall.

Maybe put the TV on some cartoons and leave a granola bar on the couch. Train the 4 year old to watch TV should he wake up!

What does BBK stand for?

Nice job on the 800s, by the way!

Andrea - Thanks! Honestly I don't really know - butt kickers maybe? It is a consistent group that I can get a good workout in with (which is always a good thing).

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 19:32:39 from 71.219.67.82

Bingham Butt Kickers, they all kind of met on the Bingham track many years ago. Now tons of us live in Riverton/Herriman and even Bluffdale. But I think there was only Bingham way back then. ;o)

I get a kick out of it when some people go to the track and do 1 or 2 Yasso 800's...

From Chad Robinson on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 20:03:30 from 208.110.158.227

I hear you Calvin - When I was doing a speed workout at the track last summer a guy showed up and did a couple warm-up laps, proceeded to lace up his track spikes, did an all out 400, changed out of his spikes and left. Maybe sprinters have a different thing going or something.

From Andrea on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 20:06:18 from 67.177.21.60

Calvin - does that mean they are 80-90% away from their marathon goal pace?

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 20:35:01 from 71.219.67.82

I actually think that is about the perfect amount of speedwork. I will join them next time. ;o)
