Race today. My race was last, the seeded girls, and of course it decided to rain right when the seeded races started. By the time the girls started it was so muddy. I got about 25 minutes of warmup in and strides and stuff.

When we started I was back of the pack already which was discouraging. I focused on catching people and tried to relax like Bill said to do. Going around that fence was sooo muddy and I had no traction whatsoever from my flats. I had to slow down a ton to avoid slipping. The second time around I wasn't so lucky and my foot slid out from under me. I scraped up my knee, elbow, and hip, but I was determined not to let it turn out like state. Up the switchbacks the mud changed from slippery to sticky and it stuck to the bottom of our shoes making it a lot more difficult. I used the downhill and was able to catch a few people there. On the cement I surged because I knew the next patch of mud was going to slow me down. Up poop out I had to walk halfway up because the mud was so slick that I was going slip and fall to the bottom. I walked to the side and when I could I finished the hill. I really didn't want to walk so I was upset about that. Going down the hill I was careful not to slip but turning the corner I guess I wasn't as careful because I slipped again and scraped the other side of me. Up the reservoir hill i caught a few people. Finishing I caught myself from falling a few times. I realized I was bleeding when I finished so that was fun. Now im typing this in the bus, and we still have to drive from St. George to Salt Lake. We will have been traveling home for 32 hours when we finally arrive because we got caught in traffic in the canyon and the bus driver has to sleep. So yeah.

i don't really know what my time was but it was slow.

I think that air travel thing is about to catch on!

Sorry about the rough race. It looked pretty brutal out there. You've got many great races ahead of you.
