Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

PUKE FEST

Oh Dear, I did an okay long run, I ate last night, we went to a friends house and I didnt have any wine...... I got up early this morning, and ate what I always eat before my long runs 3 hours before a good breakfast.

I took energy gels and water, which Paul carried with my backpack!  My aim was to just get a long slow run in, I started off great and got better till mile 10, I had stopped at about 9.5 miles for 1 min to take a gel and some water on board I am not sure what went wrong???? any suggestions please as I ate well the night before got enough sleep, ate well 3 hrs before, and took a gel   with water, 2mins later I was puking up pretty bad and it wasnt what I had eaten just water and yellow watery puke, which I have had it happen before and I know it means my stomach is empty, now It was really cold out and the water was really cold so Im not sure if it was that hitting my stomach I dont know but I Puked up every  couple of mins for 2 miles, then I had nothing left and just borked allot but kept going it wasnt nice at all.... I dont think I had hit the wall as I was able to keep a good pace still, my gel was in date ????? urghhh  I am okay now, I have had something to eat and drink and some sugary drink as I felt my sugar was low    :-)

I think you need to puke at least 4 or 5 times before you call it a fest, otherwise you're just being a drama queen.

From Burt on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 15:14:24 from 98.177.216.165

Let me see if I can one up Mike. Yellow puke, huh? Maybe you were drinking pee.

From rattletrap on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 15:41:07 from 24.19.93.139

Borking sounds even worse than puking.

From ChrisM on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 15:49:07 from 86.144.115.183

That was still a decent paced run despite the vomiting. Maybe if the water was very cold it could have caused a reaction in your stomach because of the coldness?

I tend to only eat standard breakfast of tea, orange juice and weatabix before long runs (rather than eating a lot). So I am used to not being super full of carbs etc and there isn't a great deal to puke up if that was to happen LOL

I wondered if Burt might suggest you are pregnant but no drinking pee! LOL

You seem to suffer from stomach issues often, are you sure you are not intolerant of something eg lactose/gluten etc?

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 17:46:38 from 90.201.147.153

Monte, by my calculations puking every 2 mins, approx for 2 miles, which are approx 7.30 pace, well Id say about 7-8 times, but I think it was 6 times I actually puked LOL.

Burt, Yellow puke, yellow bile ! ha ha not pee, thats just weird LOL

Rattletrap well when I borked I didnt puke so I didnt have to stop so it wasnt nice, but at least I could keep running :)

Chris, yeah, I ate 3hours before so its pretty much digested, hence the yellow puke empty stomach, so my stomach is empty! I am thinking it was the cold water or an in date gel gone off ??

No not intolerent I had an alergy test 2 yrs ago...... I have suffered from stomach ulcers, so Im not sure if its that, I produce too much stomach acid when I am really stressed, I suppose it could have been the stress of work, the house upgrade and other things etc but hey thanks guys for the comments you have made me smile LOL :-)

No not preggers LOL

From jtshad on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 18:31:49 from 69.20.183.178

Wow, what an adventurous run. You are now one of the FRB puker's along with Walter, Superfly (Clyde) and a few other notables. I still think Clyde's puke story from Del Sol 2008 beats yours, sorry!

From Burt on Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 21:06:51 from 98.177.216.165

I love that story Jeff. "Which way???" "I don't know!!! Raaaallllppphhhh!!!"

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 04:55:22 from 78.32.130.9

I havent read that story????

Yeah Ive puked in training a few times, but mainly on hard sessions not a long run...... I really think it was the cold water now, as I didnt puke once home or bork so the gel didnt poison me like I had thought LOL

Nice run minus the puke fest! Hopefully you get better soon.
