Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Nice workout! Can't believe you answered your phone at that pace lol. Again, you make it look easy =P Hopefully the house is done soon.

Considering how tired you were I would say that was a good workout.

How in the world can you talk on the phone while running sub 6s!!!???

Also, thanks for your comment on my son's blog (P-dawg). It meant a lot to him!

Great workout as usual, treadmill speedwork can get very sweaty!

Hopefully you won't start getting phone calls on your fast treadmill workouts from people who want to see how well you can talk on the phone when pushing the pace.

I don't know how you can talk running at that speed! How much recovery do you do between mile repeats? I am interested in trying them but don't know how much to recover in between or exactly what pace I should do them at. 5k pace? Dream 5k pace?

From Sandy Dune-Howard on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 04:41:45 from 78.32.130.9

Teena, how good is your son blogging at his age I think thats great...... My son wouldnt be bothered but he does lots of sport :)

April, I dont usually talk when doing mile reps LOL

It depends if I am going for quality or quantity. at the moment I am taking 3-3.30 mins for recovery.

If it's you 1st mile reps, just do 2 for the first time, or maybe 3 and take 4-5 mins recovery go out at your 10k pace. Another way to make sure your going at the right pace etc, is to see how quickly your h/r returns to 120bpm after the mile reps, if it returns within 1min 30 secs your doing it right if it takes longer your going to fast and not enough recovery.

i.e if you did say get up to 5 x 1mile and your recovery was fine h/r wise inbetween and upto mile 4 then it took 2 mins before the 5th mile you have not got enough recovery between the reps.

Now if its quality you go faster and have 6 mins recovery if need be and do only a few mile reps.

On my faster mile reps when Im really fit, and doing quality I have done 5.15 mins :-)))) but only did 3 reps with 6 mins recovery
