I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

I really wanted to get my LR done today.  I will get home really late tonight from the basketball game and have limitted time tomorrow morning because of a family get together.  I also want to join my friends to run in memory of Sherry in the morning.

I knew that doing a LR after a hard workout yesterday was kind of a risk but also felt like it would be good to practice running on fatigued legs so I went for it.  The plan was to run the first 6-8 miles on the treadmill until it was light enough to feel safe running outside alone.  However as soon as I got going I could tell there just wasn't a shot in hell I would start again if I stopped to change clothes and transition.  So I just kept on shuffling my feet and figured I would go as long as I could.  I ended up with 16 miles at a 8:06ish pace, last mile at MP (7:38).  Definitely a hard run for me but only because my legs were fatigued.  The silver lining is that physically nothing really hurt.  I could feel my right shin towards the end but it was not painful just there.

I am now stuffed like a sausage with my compression gear on under my work clothes.  :)

Group run on the Provo River Trail tomorrow starting at 8am.  We are meeting in the parking lot at the mouth of the canyon and running in honor of Sherry Arnold.  http://www.shutupandrun.net/2012/01/virtual-run-for-sherry-arnold-february.html

i saw your post about sherry arnold on fb yesterday. so very sad. it's great that you are getting together for a group run tomorrow to honor her. i run in the dark almost every day of the week, and i really think that i have started taking my safety for granted. you can never be too careful out there...

anyway -- very nice job on the run today. i can't believe you can go 16 on the TM, but whatever works! running long on tired legs doesn't always make for the most enjoyable runs, but it's certainly beneficial for marathon training! really good week so far. have fun and enjoy your run tomorrow.

PS -- i wear compression stuff under my work clothes as well. :)

Definitely good training to get in the "fatigue" miles - smart not to push it too hard. That's a tough back-to-back you just pulled off. Big dividends down the road from training blocks like this.

I wear compression stuff all day too. It makes us look skinnier, right? :-)

Jake, looking skinnier shouldn't be very high on your priority list.

haha its not! I'd get yelled at by another fast girl on this blog, we'll just call her "@ndrea", if it was :-)

Rachelle - Nice long run on the TM! I imagine I will see you on the Provo River trail tomorrow (I will be running with Sasha). I refrain from the compression stuff at work - in my case they may actually question my physical pressence.

Sherry's story is so sad and scary. I've had a few scary encounters while running, but luckily have returned home safely each time. I am wary of running alone ever!! Great long run today, and on the treadmill, ugh!! I don't think I could do it!

okay I am not liking the sound of this....I haven't read about Sherry yet but am about to ( I run in the dark alone alll the time but chose not too since I got back from my cruise because of fatigue). Wow I am guessing she was attacked??

Rachelle, excellent LR on the TM. Why did you NOT tell me you were long running it today??? I ran 18 outside (was only going to run 16). I waited until 9am though.

Thanks so much everyone!

Jake & Allie - it is good to hear I am not the only running dork wearing compression gear under my work clothes. :)

Julie - I totally thought about calling you but I had to be to work at 9am. Friday's are heavenly to me because of being to work at 8 I don't have to be there until 9. :) Plus I'm pretty sure I literally couldn't have gone another step once I hit 16. ha
