Woke up so freakishly early to go run the race, warmed up a half mile and ran the race. The 'fast' boys took off at the start, one went the wrong way and the other died, so this other fellow and I had the lead together for the last 2 miles. I really wanted to beat him, but he got me at the last 200m or so. It was mostly a flat course, the few hills there were weren't steep - the problem was the wind against us half the race. Anyway, splits were 5:52, 6:14 and 6:33 (avg. 6:14/mi)  - though not excellent splits, I PRed with a 18:51! And won!

Congradulations, what was your prize? I like your picture, kicking the boy's butts.

Awesome Ruth! I've never even heard of that run. Sounds like good practice for XC this season.

Way to be! You're an animal! It's gonna be a great year, I can tell already. Just keep it going long enough for track; can you say 2 time Medley Region Champs?

From Ruth on Wed, Jul 04, 2007 at 21:39:23

No prizes... sad day. (It was a really small Independence Day celebration activity in Laverkin.)

The club was going to run that race. but we found out that there were no awards. cheap race. how many people were there? Congrats on your time.

To echo what Bill said I'm curious about how many people were at the race too? Would you do that race again? I almost ran it, but went to Enoch instead to meet up w/ a friend and run the Enoch 5k..

From Mik'L on Thu, Jul 05, 2007 at 10:13:05

Steve told me that they weren't even timing that race...did they? Good job on the win-especially almost winning the whole thing! Who cares what you get, it's the pride of winning, right?! Clyde didn't get much for winning a marathon, so don't feel bad!
