The run could have been worse, but it could have been a whole lot better too.  Doone and I got up early and were running by 5.  We decided to run on the island for a couple reasons: 1.  It is flat and 2.  It is 3.7 miles so I would never be to far from the car.  The plan was to do 3 laps for 11.1 miles.  Mile one was definitely more painful than I anticipated.  The pain level seemed to come down a bit on the second mile though.  By mile 3 I decided things were definitely not right were probably only going to get worse if I kept running, so I called it a day after the first lap and left Doone to finish the next 2 laps on her own.

3.7 miles AP 9:30

I'm now sitting here with ice on my leg typing this and hoping that I will be able to walk today and tomorrow.  If I'm walking normal, it will be a good sign that I'm recovering well, if not, I could be in trouble for UVM.  Looks like I won't be running for another week either way.  I have to go pick up Doone soon.  Better run... well hobble. :)

Sorry the run didn't go better. How frustrating it must be to want to be out there running and not able to. Sounds like Doone is doing very well!!!

Good luck on the healing...how does the leg feel today?

sorry it isn't healing as fast as you want. take it easy.

I'm so sad there's still pain in your leg! You were smart to stop.

How are you feeling today? Hope you're able to at least walk pain free. Sending healing thoughts your way.

How is the leg today? You are doing the smart thing by letting it rest...it will heal soon I am sure!

I am so so so sorry that you are sick. Man, when it rains it pours.

Hope you are sleeping.

I appreciate all of your concern. It is healing. It is just not doing it as fast as I would like. I'm walking fine today. It actually feels pretty good. I won't try and run on it again until Saturday. If I can't run Saturday I won't run UVM. I'll still be up there though. My kids would hate me if I cancelled the trip to see their cousins. Weather I run or not it will be fun to see you all. And really, I'm at peace with what ever happens. It's not beating my up emotionally/ physically/ mentally like my injury last year.

I'm happy that you are dealing with it well. I'm sure it helps to still be on somewhat of a high from your amazing Boston performance.

From Rhett on Tue, Jun 01, 2010 at 17:26:36 from 74.36.37.19

Andy, funny you should say that. Any time a get a tiny bit discouraged, I tell myself, "You ran a 2:58:03 at Boston and if you never get to run hard again, you can still be happy."
